This should help get your mind off the Fourth and focused on the end-of-summer smackdown come Labor Day. The guys at Canespace are falling down hammered stinko drunk on Kool-Aid (as they admit) in predicting a UM win.
Here are the highlights of why, in their opinion, it'll be a cakewalk for the Canes.
FSU has no clue what Miami will do on offense. Thanks to new O.C. Mark Whipple the element of surprise is with da U.
The Noles must have a weak offense because of so much talk about the O-Line. "The OL seems to be FSU's strength going into this season. Not, a WR or a RB, but the OL is supposed to be dominant."
All the Canes have to do is put pressure on Ponder. That fierce pass rush will neutralize FSU's attack. Why? No gamebreakers in the Garnet & Gold uni's.
On the other hand, UM is loaded with weapons. "The playmaking talent Miami has on offense and their experience from last season should be the deciding factor in this game."
FSU's secondary will be whipped in the second half "and Miami's WR rotation will break open the game (C'mon, it's FSU they always cramp up)."
Kinda gets your blood pressure cranked, eh? Then again, that blind bravado is a good thing. Let the Canes come to Doak overconfident, cocksure they've got it all figured out. Sure, Whipple's offense may be unpredictable. But with the biggest TV showcase of the season for both teams, Jimbo will have enough new wrinkles and, yes, playmakers to spark lots of Labor Day fireworks.
