A ChantRant reader tipped us off to conspiracy theorists on a premium Warchant board who didn't like our Terry Norvelle interview (see below). Said it made us a "gator blog/lizard loving" site. To which we say:
Stop, stop, you're killing us. Yeah, we're a stealth gator site (if we can stop laughing long enough to type) like Vatican City is a bastion of Buddhism. Just check out the archives. For example, the "How Do You Like Your Gator?" reptile receipe (Sept. '06). Or listen to our biting satire "Urban Goes Gangster" (November '06).
We report, you decide. With apologies to a certain cable network, that's our philosophy. Are Terry's comments a shock? Sure. But the guy's a credible, objective analyst who speaks for FSU on the Sun Sports gameday show. We thought it worthy to air his views as a counterpoint to the blind optimism of some FSU fans. We never said we agree with Terry's comments — they're his, not ours. Bottom line: don't shoot the messenger.
We'll put our FSU credentials up against anybody's. For starters, our publisher and main contributor is an FSU grad, 30-year season ticket holder and Booster. He saw his first Nole game in '64 and covered the team home and away for The Flambeau. He also covered FSU for broadcast media, including co-hosting a Tallahassee radio show with Seminole great Steve Tensi.
In addition, we spend our own time and dime to produce the Garnet & Great website, featuring exclusive interviews with FSU players from the 60's to the present.
Put down the Kool-Aid, guys. We're not a propaganda machine, so we're not afraid to speak up (prime example: Jeff Bowden). Not timid about offering contrarian views like Terry's. Not reluctant to bring you stuff that sites like Warchant won't, because they can't afford to jeopardize their media credentials.
Informed, intelligent, thinking FSU grads (sorry, that's redundant) will read Warchant, Scalp 'Em and ChantRant to get a variety of news and views. So we'll continue to be original, unafraid to offer a variety of opinions, and 100% Seminole.
Comments? Questions? Kudos?
